Caring for your Bengal
Bengals are smart, athletic, and affectionate. A little preparation makes the transition home smooth for everyone. Here is what we recommend.
Food
- We feed Royal Canin Mommy & Babycat to start.
- Move to a quality grain-free kibble such as Purrfect Bistro, Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Acana, Blue Wilderness, Innova Evo, Nature's Variety Instinct, or Earthborn Holistic.
- Introduce wet food around four to five months of age.
Settling In
- Use a pheromone diffuser such as Comfort Zone to ease the transition home.
- Give your kitten a small, quiet room to start before opening up the whole house.
- Keep the first few days calm and predictable.
Enrichment
- Bengals are active and intelligent. An exercise wheel like the One Fast Cat is a favorite.
- Provide a tall cat tree, at least three feet, such as those from The Cat Factory.
- Rotate toys and offer daily interactive play.
Health
- Keep up with the vaccination schedule. Intranasal vaccines are given at weeks 12 and 16.
- Schedule a wellness visit with your veterinarian shortly after pickup.
- Rabies vaccination is given by your own vet after the kitten is home.
